Area Police
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
