Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans offered sympathy for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
