Two Individuals Accused In Connection With Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Assault
Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, police said.
A young child was one of the people hurt in the event. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.
This event – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
