News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will probably be featured in a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several prominent actors in important characters:

- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
