Indianapolis Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.
First Quarter Action
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
Additional Tenth Week Games
Additionally, the full slate starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) New York Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
